How to fix sending rate or daily quota
What to do when sends are throttled or the daily SES quota is exhausted.
You got Sending rate exceeded, Daily sending quota reached, or Urgent: daily sending limit reached. There are two daily ceilings:
- Throttling — too many sends per second. Transient. Slow down; Lumail will retry eligible mail.
- SES daily quota — the provider’s 24-hour send ceiling. Wait for the window to roll, or ask us to raise it.
- Lumail plan daily limit — your organization’s daily sending allotment (for example 25,000 on Creator). A campaign larger than what remains today is sent up to that remaining count. The rest is not queued. Use Contact admin on the campaign or notification if you need the leftover recipients sent today.
What to change
- Stop launching another full-list campaign on top of one already draining the quota.
- Let in-flight retries finish. Don’t hammer “Send” on the same campaign.
- If this is normal volume for you, email [email protected] or open Contact admin with the org slug and approximate daily volume. We raise the provider or plan cap; you cannot do it in DNS.
- If you also see monthly Lumail limit alerts, that’s a different ceiling — How to fix a monthly email limit.
- If the message is This recipient is temporarily rate limited, that is one mailbox, not the account send rate — Recipient rate guards.
